The PRASAD Project is pleased to share that Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia Escarra, participated in the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, held in September 2015 in New York City. This is The PRASAD Project’s fourth year participating in CGI.
CGI was established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton to create and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. These solutions are known as “Commitments to Action.” The PRASAD Project has made three Commitments to Action, which have been recognized by CGI, increasing visibility for PRASAD among CGI members.
PRASAD’s first Commitment to Action, A Budding Initiative: Organic Farming in the Tansa Valley. By training local farmers in sustainable organic techniques, PRASAD improves the lives of families who rely on farming for their livelihood, and contributes to the restoration and conservation of the environment. We continue to expand this initiative.
In 2014, Dr. Escarra made a Commitment to Action, Solar Systems: Clean Energy for the Tansa Valley. PRASAD’s commitment was selected as an exemplary approach to addressing critical energy challenges.
PRASAD made its third Commitment to Action in 2015, “Sustainable Agro-Forestry Initiative” to increase local food security and income by simultaneously promoting marketable plants and trees, protecting biodiversity and restoring and enriching soil.
The PRASAD Project is honored to participate in a global community of leaders, all of whom are striving for a better world.
