Two Pieces of Good News

We have two pieces of good news to share! First, a story from Koshimshet, and the life-changing work being done there.

Water is a crucial human right. In the Tansa Valley, it is common for women to fetch water from the community well for home and other uses. In many villages, the wells are dilapidated with dangerous jagged edges and low or no protective side wall, making the simple, necessary task of getting daily water perilous for women.

In Koshimshet, a hamlet of 48 households, the 250 residents stopped using the local well because it was falling apart and clogged with silt. Local authorities weren’t responding to their pleas for fixing the well – a very inconvenient situation, especially for women.

So, when the community heard about PRASAD Chikitsa’s well refurbishment initiative, they requested help and PRASAD Chikitsa stepped in and repaired, cleaned, and painted the well. Mrs. Kavita Gimbhal, a member of the Gram Panchayat (village council), expressed the community’s appreciation, “The work done by PRASAD Chikitsa is commendable. It has eased the lives of the women from our hamlet. We feel safe while drawing the water because of the strong parapet wall.”

Second, we have more to celebrate for our 30th anniversary! For the FOURTH consecutive year, The PRASAD Project has been given the sought-after 4-star rating (the highest possible), from Charity Navigator, the leading nonprofit evaluator.

With more than 1.5 million American charities, Charity Navigator aims to accentuate the work of efficient and transparent organizations. The highest possible rating indicates that the organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way.

Only 21% of charities have received at least four consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that The PRASAD Project outperforms most other charities in America.
