PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program

Who We Are

PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program (PRASAD CDHP) provides high-quality, compassionate dental health services to children through our New York State-certified mobile dental clinic. Our administrative office is in the town of Liberty, in Sullivan County, New York. By bringing our mobile clinic directly to public schools, we make it easier for families to access essential dental care. In addition to providing preventive and restorative treatments, we also offer dental health education classes at local schools. We believe that healthy smiles lead to healthy futures.

Happy Healthy Smiles for Children

PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program (PRASAD CDHP) offices are located in the town of Liberty in Sullivan County, New York State. Just 2.5 hours northwest of New York City, it is a world apart. Home to the Catskill Mountains, family farms, and rural, small-town America, it is beautiful and verdant.

Sullivan County has also been listed among the least healthy counties in New York State because of the lack of public transportation, persistent poverty, high levels of unemployment and disability, and limited access to healthcare, dental care included. The poverty rate is 13.3%, higher than the U.S. national average of 12.8%.

The cost of dental care is out of reach for many Sullivan County residents, and transportation is complicated. Our dental program delivers services via a state-of-the-art mobile dental clinic right at public school campuses, making it easy for children and parents alike. We chose this service delivery approach because of Sullivan County’s rural nature and the lack of public transportation.

To raise awareness and ensure access to dental education and care for children at risk, PRASAD CDHP partners with Social Services, Sullivan County Public Health Services, Head Start programs, and local agencies that provide referrals for children in need of dental care.  The mobile dental clinic also parks at our offices during the summer and school holidays for children to receive year-round dental treatment.

PRASAD CDHP is an Article 28 NYS Department of Health-certified clinic approved to operate at New York State schools. A certified, school-based health center is a safe, easily accessible location on a school campus where students can have a dental home and go for preventive and restorative care services.

Mobile Dental Clinic

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new mobile dental clinic, made possible through a generous grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. This state-of-the-art mobile dental facility now regularly visits public schools across Sullivan County, bringing essential dental care directly to students. During the summer and school holidays, the mobile clinic is stationed outside our office, ensuring children have access to year-round dental treatment. A New York State-Certified Mobile Dental Clinic

PRASAD CDHP is an Article 28 dental clinic certified by the New York State Department of Health and approved to operate in New York State schools. Our school-based health center provides a safe, convenient location on school campuses where students can establish a dental home and receive ongoing preventive and restorative dental care, along with dental health education.

Dental Disease Is a Chronic Issue in Sullivan County

Dental diseases are the most prevalent chronic conditions affecting children today, resulting in a loss of 51 million school hours annually. And, as one of the least healthy counties in New York State, Sullivan County residents are deeply impacted by this issue.

Sullivan County has many rural residents, higher than average poverty rates than the rest of the state, and skyrocketing levels of unemployment and disability. Limited public transportation options and the rising costs of healthcare—including dental care—are all barriers for county residents to access cost-effective dental treatment. We chose to start a mobile dental clinic to address as many of these issues as possible in area and increase access to affordable dental care.

Our dental program delivers services via a state-of-the-art mobile dental clinic that parks right outside of public-school campuses, making it easy for children to receive the vital dental services they need.

Our Partners

To provide access to dental health education and care for at-risk children, PRASAD CDHP partners with Social Services, Sullivan County Public Health Services, Head Start programs, and local agencies that refer children in need of dental care. We are also deeply grateful to the New York State Department of Health, the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, and the support of local businesses, foundations, and individuals for their invaluable partnership in helping us deliver these vital services to the children who need them most.
